McGrath Appoints McGoldrick Chairman And Field President

The John W. McGrath Corporation has announced the appointment of Joseph F. McGoldrick as board chairman and chief executive officer. The office of chairman of the New York-based stevedores and terminal operators has been vacant since the death of John W. McGrath in 1972.

Mr. McGoldrick joined McGrath in 1950 as general counsel, and has served as president of the company since 1967. He is a director of the New York Shipping Association (NYSA) and a trustee of the pension and welfare funds administered jointly by the NYSA and the International Longshoremen's Association. Succeeding Mr. McGoldrick will be James S. Field, formerly executive vice president, who has been named president and chief operating officer. A graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy, Mr. Field has been with McGrath since 1958.

Before becoming executive vice president a few years ago, Mr. Field served in various capacities at McGrath and subsidiary company facilities in several ports, including that of port manager at Beaumont.

John W. McGrath Corp. and its Atlantic & Gulf Stevedores, Inc. and Pacific, Atlantic & Gulf Stevedores, Inc. subsidiaries conduct stevedoring and terminal operations at 23 locations throughout the U.S.
